WILMINGTON, Delaware – November 1, 2018 – Leading up to World AIDS Day on December 1, AIDS Delaware will recognize AIDS Awareness Month with daily posts containing HIV/AIDS history, facts, and information. Each day in November visit, @AIDSDelaware on Facebook, @AIDSDE on Twitter, and @AIDS_DE on Instagram. Join us as we look back on the struggles, the triumphs, and the persistence of those who advocated and continue to advocate for people living with HIV/AIDS. Learn about current medications and prevention efforts.

Annual HIV infections and diagnoses are declining in the United States. However, progress has been uneven. African American gay and bisexual men are more affected by HIV than any other group in the United States, and annual infections and diagnoses have increased among Hispanic/Latino gay and bisexual men. Many factors make HIV prevention among transgender people a challenge.

AIDS Delaware reminds all Delawareans to get tested and know their status. Visit our Wilmington office for a free, confidential HIV test. At your yearly physical, ask to include an HIV test. Practice safe sex by using condoms, which are free at AIDS Delaware. If you or someone you know is in need of HIV case management services, we maintain a Safe Space without fear of judgement.

To receive a free, confidential HIV test visit our office at 100 W. 10th Street, Suite 315, Wilmington, 19801. Drop-ins are welcome and we test on weekends, by appointment. For information about case management services, or education and prevention programs, please call 302.652.6776.
