Current Volunteer Needs

All volunteer opportunities are for New Castle County unless otherwise specified. If you are interested in lending a hand for any of the needs below, please contact Iris at imckenney@aidsdelaware.org.

AIDS Delaware has a strict privacy policy and HPAA compliance requirements as volunteers may be privy to confidential information. All volunteers are required to maintain a high level of confidentiality both inside and outside of our offices.

FOOD PANTRY ASSISTANT

Weekly need, Tuesdays
Time Commitment: 3-6 hours per week

Food pantry assistants help on Tuesdays in our Wilmington office. Must be comfortable interacting with clients and making food bags. One time per month, we also need help unloading our food delivery. Shifts are 9am-Noon or 12-3pm. Email Lori at campbell@aidsdelaware.org.

Qualifications: Must be able to lift heavy bags and boxes of groceries. Ability to be quick and efficient.

EVENT PLANNING ASSISTANT

When needed.                                                                                                                                                 Time Commitment: Time will vary according to scale of the event.

AIDS Delaware hosts several events throughout the year including:  Dining Out for Life in April, The Red & White Party (every other year), AIDS Walk Delaware in September, Halloween BINGO in November, and World AIDS Day on December 1. We’re seeking help in the planning of our events. Duties will include: soliciting sponsors and donations; mailings; decorating; picking up prizes; volunteering on the day of the event and other tasks involved in event planning. We welcome ideas and methods that will keep expenses to a minimum. If you enjoy planning parties on a budget, give us a call. Qualifications:  Enjoy the planning of parties; friendly; work well in a team setting; creativity; problem solving; frugality; proficiency with common computer applications; transportation to pick-up donation items (not necessary for work in the office).

 SUSSEX TRANSPORTATION PROGRAM

Weekly need                                                                                                                                                   Time Commitment:  As needed.

AIDS Delaware’s Sussex County office needs volunteers to drive clients to and from various doctor’s appointments and appointments with their case managers.  Email Francesco at fagresta@aidsdelaware.org if you’re interested in volunteering for this program.

Requirements: a dependable car, valid driver’s license, and automobile insurance.

Qualifications: Friendly and outgoing. Punctual. Trustworthy.
