Current Volunteer Needs

All volunteer opportunities are for New Castle County unless otherwise specified. If you are interested in lending a hand for any of the needs below, please contact Iris McKenney at imckenney@aidsdelaware.org.

AIDS Delaware has a strict privacy policy and HPAA compliance requirements as volunteers may be privy to confidential information. All volunteers are required to maintain a high level of confidentiality both inside and outside of our offices.


Thursday, April 20, 2017
Time Commitment: 4-5 hours, plus 1 orientation meeting on Wednesday, March 29

Ambassadors will greet and thank diners for participating in Dining Out for Life on April 20 and solicit donations.  A mandatory orientation takes place on March 29 at AIDS Delaware’s Wilmington office at 6:00pm. Dinner will be served.

Qualifications: Friendly and outgoing. Punctual. Trustworthy. Good verbal communication skills.


Weekly need, Tuesdays
Time Commitment: 3-6 hours per week

Food pantry assistants help on Tuesdays in our Wilmington office when clients pick up food. Assistants help fulfill food pantry requests and help clients get out of the building with their food. Shifts are 9am-Noon or 12-3pm.

Qualifications: Must be able to lift heavy bags and boxes of groceries. Ability to be quick and efficient.


Weekly need, Tuesdays and Thursdays
Time Commitment: At least 5 hours per week

Computer Resource Attendants are needed to help clients with basic computer usage, such as setting up email accounts, accessing websites, formatting Microsoft Word documents, etc. This position is flexible if you can only work partial shifts.

Qualifications: Proficiency with common computer applications is required (i.e. Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, web browsing, email setup, and navigation, etc.). Friendly and patient.


AIDS Delaware’s Sussex County office needs volunteers to drive clients to various doctor’s appointments and appointments with their case managers.  Email Iris McKenney at imckenney@aidsdelaware.org if you’re interested in volunteering for this program.

Requirements: a dependable car, valid driver’s license, and automobile insurance.
