Current Volunteer Needs

AIDS Delaware has a strict privacy policy and HIPAA compliance requirements as volunteers may be made privy to confidential information. All volunteers are required to maintain a high level of confidentiality disclipline both inside and outside of our offices.


January 2015-March 2015
Time commitment: Approx. 2 hrs per week, plus 1 meeting per month

A small committee of outgoing individuals who can help AIDS Delaware recruit new restaurants for Dining Out for Life. Volunteers will be asked to contact local restaurants and follow up on a regular basis until a response has been received from restaurant owners and/or managers.

Qualifications: Friendly and outgoing. Detail oriented. Personal contacts with restaurant owners and/or managers is a plus.


Weekly need, Tuesdays
Time Commitment: 3-6 hours per week

Food pantry assistants are needed to assist food pantry staff on Tuesdays in our Wilmington office when clients pick up food. Assistants help fulfill pick-ups and help clients get out of the building with their food. Typically this volunteer works at least one of the 9-12 or 12-3 shifts.

Qualifications: Must be able to lift heavy bags and boxes of groceries. Ability to be quick and efficient.


Weekly need, Tuesdays and Thursdays
Time Commitment: At least 5 hours per week

Computer Resource Attendants are needed to help clients with basic computer usage, such as setting up email accounts, accessing websites, formatting Microsoft Word documents, etc. This position is flexible if you can only work partial shifts.

Qualifications: Proficiency with common computer applications is required (i.e. Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, web browsing, email setup and navigation, etc.). Friendly and patient.


Thursday, April 18, 2019
Time Commitment: 4-5 hours, plus 1 orientation meeting on Monday, April 15

Ambassadors will educate diners in restaurants on the night of Dining Out for Life (Thursday, April 18, 2019 in New Castle County) and solicit donations.  An in-person orientation will be hosted on April 15 for the NCCo event and is required for all Ambassadors.

Qualifications: Friendly and outgoing. Punctual. Trustworthy. Good verbal communication skills.


AIDS Delaware in Sussex County recruits volunteers to drive clients to various appointments they need, such as to their doctors and case managers.  Email Judy Carey at if you are interested in volunteering for this program.
